Frequently Asked Questions

What is REMIX?

We are shaking things up for the Spring 2017 season!  Rather than sign-up with specific teams, each player will register as a free agent and be placed on a random team.

Why REMIX?

Stonewall Sports - Philadelphia is all about fostering a welcoming, inclusive community where all feel safe to let loose and be themselves through fun, competitive sports.  As we enter Spring 2017, REMIX will give returning players the opportunity to break out from their corners of the league, take a break from established teams, and meet some new teammates!  New players will find a welcoming, level playing field with everyone in the same boat, establishing new friendships and new social opportunities.

How does REMIX work?

All all players will register as a free agent.  During the registration process, registrants will be asked to self-rank their skill levels (more below) and to indicate which positions they are most comfortable with on the field.

Using these rankings, teams will be automatically generated to ensure a balance of skill level on each team.  Team assignments are final.  Changes will be made at League Management's discretion only in the most extraordinary circumstances.

That's it!

What are the skill levels for REMIX?

  • 5 - Advanced skill level with expert knowledge of the game and rules.
  • 4 - Experienced skill level, with exceptional knowledge of the game and rules.
  • 3 - Intermediate skill level, with a solid knowledge of the game and rules.
  • 2 - Basic skill level, with a basic understanding of the game and rules.
  • 1 - Beginner skill level, with little or no knowledge of the game and rules.

How will captains be selected for REMIX?

When registering, all players will have the opportunity to indicate if they would like to captain a team.  Following registration, League Management will choose a set of captains that best represent the broad involvement of our league, based on consideration of the following:

  • Stonewall Experience - Must have played at least one season of Stonewall Kickball
  • Stonewall Involvement - Volunteering/past leadership may be considered.
  • Stonewall Sportsmanship - Captains must have a track record of positive sportsmanship within the league.

But what about my current team?

Don't fret!  Fall Kickball will return to the status quo.  REMIX only applies to Spring Kickball.

The Bottom Line?

REMIX is an exciting change for Stonewall Philly that will shake things up and deliver a new dose of energy to our cornerstone sport of Kickball.

INTRODUCING SMALL GROUPS!

We at Stonewall want to create spaces that you feel safe in. If having a friend or loved one with you on your REMIX team will do that, we want to ensure that the two of you will be able to play with each other this season.

SMALL GROUP = 2 PEOPLE (YOU + 1)

What if I HAVE to play with my Partner/GF/BF/BFF/Teammate!?

When signing up, select Small Group Member rather than Free Agent.  With the Small Group option, you now may link up with ONE (1) other person to ensure that when teams are randomly assigned, you and your teammate (BOTH OF YOU!) are GUARANTEED to play together for REMIX.

You have two options, either creating a new Small Group or joining an existing Small Group.  If your teammate has already created a Small Group it will appear in a drop down menu after selecting "I want to join existing Small Group."

If you are creating a new Small Group, be sure to fill out the name of the group so your friends can easily spot it. If you are joining an existing Small Group be sure to select the correct group from the drop down menu. Continue on with the registration to the payment page.

Note: To guarantee that you are paired with your selected teammate, that person MUST join your small group (or you, theirs) when registering.

What if I CANNOT play with my Former Partner/GF/BF/BFF/Teammate!?

Ah, the ex factor. We get it. For one reason or another, there may be someone in REMIX that you absolutely, positively cannot play with for a whole season for whatever reason. We encourage you to go into the season with an open mind and heart, and to give people you may not have a fantastic pre-existing relationship with a chance.

If you feel that being on the same team with a particular person or group of people would put you in an unsafe situation, you will be able to enter in their names into the KICKBALL PREFERENCES form to guarantee that you are not placed on a team with them for your safety.  Note that this is for extraordinary circumstances and subject to the discretion of League Management.

What if I rank myself low and my friends rank themselves high ??????????¢?? will that give us a better chance of being on a same team?

This is a random selection for the teams and there is nothing that you can do to have a better chance of being on the same team as someone else except for creating a small group.

If League Management feels as if a player has misrepresented themselves in their self-ranking for any reason, it reserves the right to adjust it for any reason.

Registration opens Monday, February 27, 2017.  The season begins Sunday, April 2, 2017.
